Former New York Pitcher charged with DUI and child endangerment
Posted By Thomas V. Wallin

Dwight Gooden, former pitcher for the New York Mets and the New York Yankees was charged with driving under the influence of drugs early last week.  Gooden was charged with leaving the scene of the accident after being involved in a two-car collision.  A child was in the car, but police would not release the identity.  Gooden faces jail time with the charges pending against him.

DUI with child endangerment is a very serious charge.  Whether you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you face very difficult consequences.  Child endangerment can be a felony charge meaning that it is punishable by state prison.  In many cases, an added child endangerment charge will require 4 years of informal probation and usually a mandatory 52 week parenting course.  Without the help of a qualified drunk driving attorney you are facing the maximum sentencing on all charges.  If you or someone you know has been arrested for driving under the influence in California, call us toll free today.

Jason Wahler was arrested for the sixth time on alcohol related charges Friday night.  The former star of Laguna Beach and The Hills, Wahler, 23, was driving his 2008 Chevy Tahoe in Newport Beach at around 11:00 pm when he was arrested on suspicion of an Orange County DUI.  Wahler has recently been in the news after allegedly getting into a fight at a bar in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.  Read more about Jason Wahler’s arrest online at People.com.

An arrest for an Orange County DUI can affect every aspect of your life.  Unfortunately, the laws are only getting stricter in Orange County, likely because of the highly publicized light sentencing in celebrity related drunk driving arrests.  On a second or subsequent DUI arrest you are likely facing jail time, a long license suspension and an 18 month alcohol program.  Given the seriousness of the penalties involved with an Orange County DUI, the most important thing you can do is contact a qualified drunk driving attorney to assist you with all aspects of your case.

Deadliest Catch Star not charged with DUI
Posted By Thomas V. Wallin

Jake Harris, star of Deadliest Catch, was not charged with driving under the influence.  The district attorney decided against filing DUI or Hit-and-Run charges due to insufficient evidence.  Harris was charged with reckless driving and driving with a suspended license following his February 18 arrest for suspicion of drunk driving.  In the case, the supposed witness to the hit-and-run was unable to identify the driver.  The Harris family has been struck with tragedy this year as his father Captain Phil Harris, died from a stroke on February 9.

Driving under the influence in California is a very serious crime.  You are facing lengthy license suspensions, hefty fines and potential jail time.  In some cases you may not be charged with driving under the influence once all of the evidence is collected as established in the Jake Harris case, however you may still be facing very serious consequences.  Reckless driving and driving with a suspended license are misdemeanors punishable by jail time.  No matter what the circumstances of your California drunk driving arrest, and no matter what you are eventually charged with we can help.  Call us toll free today for a free initial case evaluation.

Woman arrested for Mission Viejo DUI
Posted By Thomas V. Wallin
28 year old, Kristin Elizabeth Engstrom was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence when she was found sleeping in her vehicle.   Orange County Sheriff’s arrived on Engstrom’s vehicle a little after midnight at the corner of Oso and Marguerite.  The car’s engine was still on and an informant called in what she believed was an abandoned car.  It is unclear from the limited facts whether Engstrom was later found in the driver’s seat, but the informant reported that there was not a driver in the car.  If charged, Engstrom is facing a second offense as last year she entered a plea of guilty to driving under the influence.

The scenario above is very common.  Officers come upon sleeping or even stranded motorists and perform a wellness check which later leads to an arrest for driving under the influence.  The problem is that you may not have been driving the vehicle at all or the officer may not be able to indicate a time of driving. These are fatal flaws in an Orange County DUI case.  It is important that no matter what the circumstances of your drunk driving case you contact a qualified Orange County DUI Defense Lawyer who will present the proper defenses for your case.  Contact our offices now toll free at 888-444-7210 for a free consultation.
