A Long Beach fire department captain was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and fleeing the scene.

According to the OC Register, John Hines, 38, was driving on Westminster Avenue, east of Bolsa Chica Road, when his Chevrolet truck swerved into the bike lane and struck a cyclist.   Hines did not stop and check on the cyclists and instead, continued driving to a residence in Huntington Beach.   Witnesses of the accident followed Hines where he was then arrested and booked for a felony hit and run as well as felony driving under the influence; Hines has been released on $50,000 bond.
