San Carlos vice mayor was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol early Thursday morning.
According to the Mercury News, Andy Klein, 29, was driving and exiting northbound on Interstate 280 when he pulled over on the side of the road to take a phone call at around 1:10am. A sheriff’s deputy noticed the vehicle on the side and though that it may have broken down.
Once the officer pulled over and began speaking with Klein, he noticed the smell of alcohol and proceeded to administer a
DUI field’s sobriety test as well as a breathalyzer test.
Klein’s blood alcohol level can back at .08 and he was taken to the county’s First Chance drop-off center that is used for sobering up rather than being taken to jail.
