| Santa Paula employee arrested on drunk driving charges |

An employee of the city of Santa Paula was arrested for driving under the influence after being involved in a small accident. According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department the employee was driving a city-owned vehicle when the incident occurred. According to witnesses the driver struck a pole in the parking lot of a grocery store. The damage was minor but the city employee now faces DUI charges.

| Contra Costa DUI trial brought to the classroom |

In an unusual twist a Brentwood High School was turned into a DUI court as students watched the wheels of justice turn. On December 20, Tyson Ranalli was pulled over and subsequently arrested for a Contra Costa DUI. After being charged with violation of Vehicle Code sections 23152 (a) driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and 23152 (b) driving with a BAC of over .08%, Ranalli agreed to this unusual forum for his court proceedings.

| Packers tight end suspected of driving under the influence |

Packers tight end, Spencer Havner is suspected of driving under the influence in California. The California Highway Patrol has announced that they are seeking DUI charges against him after the 27-year old crashed his motorcycle. Havner is recovering from a broken scapula associated with the crash, but has denied the allegations. Currently Havner has not been formally charged with a California DUI.

| UC Davis student dies in drunk driving accident |

Richard Jung was killed on New Year’s Day when he was rear-ended by an alleged drunk driver causing his car to veer into oncoming traffic. Three people were killed in the accident including Jung’s mother who was in the passenger seat and another driver who died at the hospital. The California Highway Patrol reported that Herculano Hernandez, is facing three counts of second-degree murder as well as nine other felony counts.

| Suspected California DUI Crash Injures Several People |

Last Friday in the Atwater area a man was driving and crossed over the double yellow lines, sideswiping another car. Emergency personnel was on the scene quickly, with seven of the people involved in the accident being taken to the hospital. Both vehicles were severly damaged, but all who were injured are doing well. The man who caused the accident was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of a felony DUI after California Highway Patrol officials conducted an investigation.
