Lake County DUI Checkpoint Press Releases

Lower Lake - August 26, 2011

The CHP is holding a sobriety checkpoint Friday night in Lake County, near or at the intersections of Highways 53 and 29 in Lower Lake.

The checkpoint will be staffed from 6 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday and is aimed at catching those driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, authorities said.

"The desired result is to save lives and make everyone's family summer excursion, for both our community residents and those visiting our beautiful county, a safe and pleasurable memory," CHP Lieutenant Greg Baarts said in a written statement.

The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
